This article provides instructions for provisioning a supported Yealink device on UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT using the Enhanced BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) method.

Firmware Requirements for Enhanced BYOP

While it is not always necessary, upgrading the firmware can potentially correct various issues during the auto-provisioning process known as Enhanced BYOP.

Yealink devices acquired from third-party sellers often have random or inconsistent firmware previously installed on the device, which means there is a chance the device's current firmware is too old to work flawlessly with the provisioning server.

If you find that you are unable to provision your device using the Enhanced BYOP, it may be beneficial to check the current firmware of the device and update it if necessary. Below is a list of known working firmware for each Yealink device.

Add Device in Control Panel

  1. As an administrator, log into Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to Services > UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT on the top of the screen.
  3. Select Devices on the left navigation pane.
  4. Click Add devices button. 
  5. Click Setup your own device.
  6. Select the Brand and Model of your device.
  7. Enter MAC address. The MAC address can be found on the label on the back of the phone.
  8. Select language for the phone's interface.
    Note: Dutch language is not supported by Yealink phones. If Dutch language is selected in HostPilot, the Yealink device will default to US English.
  9. Assign a user and their 911 address.
  10. Click Setup device. setting up your own device

Note: Dutch language is not supported by Yealink phones. If this language is selected in Control Panel, the Yealink device will default to US English.

How to Factory Reset a Yealink Phone

Phones obtained from third party resellers should always be reset to factory settings before you provision it. To do this follow these instructions on the Yealink phone:

  1. Press Menu Softkey
  2. Go to Settings > Advanced UI and input your password to enter.
  3. Select the Reset to Factory option. The LCD screen will prompt with: Warning, Reset to Factory Setting.
  4. Press OK to continue.

How to configure a Yealink phone using the Web UI

  1. Plug in the phone power cord and network cable. The phone begins initializing and the lights on the phone will flash (this should take about 5 seconds to complete). While the phone is connecting, it automatically finds the local DHCP server and gets its private IP address.
  2. Obtain the IP address of your phone:
    1. Press the Menu button on or below the screen.
    2. Press the OK button on 1. Status
    3. This page displays the IP of the phone under 1.IPv4
      Note:
      the IP address assigned to the phone will be in the private IP range set on the network. Examples of such IP addresses are 192.168.0.10, 10.0.10.20, or 172.16.0.10.
  3. On your computer open the web browser and type the phone's IP address into the browser's search (address) field to open the web interface for the Yealink phone.
  4. Log in to the phone using the default username and password:
    Login: admin
    Password: admin
    If you cannot log in using these credentials, then the phone was not reset to factory settings.
  5. Go to Security > Trusted Certificates
  6. Set Only Accept Trusted Certificates to Disabled (Off)
  7. Click Confirm button at the bottom of the page.
  8. Navigate to Settings > Auto Provision and change the following information:
    • In the Server URL field, copy and paste the URL below:
      http://cfgphone.com
      or
      https://config.telecomsvc.com:6716/configServlet/Yealink
      If you're located in Canada use: https://phoneprov05.telecomsvc.com:6716/configServlet/Yealink
    • Match the pre-set configuration as the screenshot is detailed prior to the provisioning customization.
  9. Click Auto Provision Now at the bottom of the page.

  10. The phone will restart itself. Do not unplug the phone from the power while it's restarting. The phone may restart several times.
  11. Once the phone is done provisioning it will display your extension number in addition to the display preferences you configured for the device in Control Panel and the phone can be used.
