To troubleshoot installation problems and missing features issues, installer logs are needed.
Note: If you had previously installed UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE, make sure you've uninstalled it correctly before re-installing it following this Knowledge article: How Do I Uninstall UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE?
To collect the installer logs on a Windows machine:
- Click on the Windows icon in the tray, type %ProgramData%, press Enter & navigate to %ProgramData%/UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE/Installer/Logs/* (the location can also be found manually under the path C:\ProgramData\UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE\Installer\Logs\*). We recommend to also open the location %Temp%\UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE (manually found usually under C:\Users\<username>\Local\Temp or C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp).
- Find & collect the log files that were changed recently and look like:
UnivergeBlueShareInstallLog.txt - file for initial installation
MSI****.log - file for updates
To collect installer logs on a Mac machine:
- Navigate to ∼/Library/Application Support/UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE/Logs
- Find & collect the following file:
Install.log - this file is created for both initial installation & updates
Note: The recommendation is to synchronize to a local hard drive only. Do not use desktop UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE client with flash drives, external hard drives, network drives, or any external media.
Once you have the installer logs, contact Support.
Note: If UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE installation process gets blocked by Windows Defender (you see a message Risky action blocked with the reasoning "Your Administrator has blocked this action" under Windows Security > Protection History), most likely it means that you have ASR rules enabled in your Windows Defender version. If that's the case, you will need to exclude the following paths from ASR rules:
"%ProgramFiles%\UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE\Tray\UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE Tray.exe"
"%ProgramFiles%\UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE\Tray\SyncTray.BrowserProcess.exe"
"%SystemRoot%\Installer\MSI*.tmp-\Sync.*.dll"
%Temp%\MSI*.tmp-\Sync.*.dll"
Instructions to add exclusions can be found here (paragraph 5)
