You can configure your call audio settings in the UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT app so that you hear your call audio from one device and all other sounds (e.g., notifications and voicemails) from the default audio device managed by the OS. You can also select an additional audio device to hear incoming UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT call notifications to ensure calls are not missed. When a secondary audio device is selected, Incoming call notifications will be audible on both the default OS device and the additional notification device.
To configure these options, go to the Settings tab > Audio settings.
In the drop-down, choose the device you want to hear the call audio through. All other sounds will now go through your default audio device that is set in your OS settings.
To add an additional device to receive incoming call notifications, toggle the Set secondary ring device for incoming call notifications button to ON and select a device from the drop-down menu. Incoming call notifications will now be heard from both selected devices.
FAQ
Q: I have changed my Default audio device in my OS settings. But I hear my calls in UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT from another device, why?
A: This means that you have already changed audio settings in UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT at least once. In this case, there is no synchronization between OS settings and UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT settings. You need to change your UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT Audio device to Default (or Communication Default on Windows) in UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT settings for the app to follow the OS.
Q: I have changed my Default communication device in my Windows settings. But these changes do not affect UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT at all. Why?
A: This happens when the UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT Audio output/input settings are set to anything except the default Communication device.
Q: How can I change a device to hear my voicemail playback, call ringing, voicemail, and chat notifications?
A: You need to select another Windows default audio device
Q: Can I select an audio device for UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT ringing (call notifications) different from the device for other sounds (voicemails playback, chat notifications)?
A: Yes, toggle Set secondary ring device for incoming call notifications button to ON and select a device from the drop-down menu. Incoming call notifications will now be heard from this selected device also. All other sounds in UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT except calls are managed by OS default audio device.
Q: What if I don't want notifications on default OS device, only on the secondary device?
A: Currently, notifications will play on both devices to ensure you hear incoming calls. However, you can adjust the volume or mute the main speaker if desired.
Q: Which devices can I select as my notification device(s)?
A: Any available audio output device connected to your computer, such as built-in speakers, external speakers, Bluetooth speakers, or headsets.
Q: How can I change a device to hear my calls in UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT without affecting another app?
A: You need to select a desirable non-default device in UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT Audio settings
Q: How can I manage my UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT Audio setting in Deskphone mode?
A: While in Deskphone mode, you hear the call through the selected Deskphone device. To change the source of ringing or voicemail playback in UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT you need to change your default audio device in Windows settings.
Q: What should I do, if I want to hear my voicemails and calls through the same audio device?
A: This means that you have already changed audio settings in UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT at least once. In this case, there is no synchronization between OS settings and UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT settings. You need to change your UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT Audio device to Default (or Communication Default on Windows) in UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT settings for the app to follow the OS.
Q: I was listening to music and it was subdued when I opened the keypad/receptionist tab, What happened?
A: It means that in the application your speakers are set to default communication device (communications). When you open this tab, it is considered as an intention to make a call, so all other sounds are lowered.
Users can change the device in the Speakers field (audio settings) to the default device or to the specific device they are using. However, the music wouldn't be subdued when they are on the call.
Another option is to change the settings in Windows Sound settings > Sound Control Panel > Communications tab.
Q: How can I configure audio settings so that UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT call ringing sounds play on my computer speakers and active call audio play on my headset?
A: For doing so, you would need to set your computer speakers as default on your operating system and set your headset as Speaker and Microphone device on your UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT desktop application:
Windows:
1. Navigate to Windows Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Devices
2. Playback > Choose your computer speakers
MAC:
1. Navigate to the right upper corner of the screen to manage sound, choose Sound Preferences
2. System preferences window will pop up. Choose Sound
3. For Output choose Speakers
The final step: from the UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT application click on your Profile Picture > Audio Settings. Make sure your headset is chosen as Speaker and Microphone device.
Note: The desktop application will not ring out loud if Do Not Disturb (DND) mode is on. There will be visual incoming call notifications but no audio ones. If you want to turn DND mode off, choose the Apple menu > System Preferences > Notifications > Do Not Disturb at the top of the sidebar.
