This article describes how to create, manage, and delete Resource accounts, including steps for mass creation and editing settings within a specified administrative platform.

A Resource is treated as a type of virtual user; when created it can be assigned to any devices provisioned in the Device tab, as a User.  This allows the device to gain additional features from the Resource:

  • Assign multiple Direct Dial Numbers
  • Configurable outbound caller ID
  • Call Forwarding settings
  • Voicemail
  • Location of resource: the location carries over to the E911 of the device.

In this article we will cover the following topics:

Create new Resource account 

To create a new Resource account:

  1. As an administrator, log into Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to Services > UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT at the top of the screen.
  3. Select the Resources & Utilities tab on the left navigation pane.
  4. Click the Create green button.
  5. Choose the Resource option from the drop-down menu.
  6. Click Proceed button.
  7. The Create resource page will open. Fill in the information, including:
    • Naming your resource
    • Setting a location where this fax resource will be used
    • Selecting the extension
    • Assigning a phone number
    • Selecting a billing plan
       
  8. Click Create resource.
  9. Confirm the charges for this operation on the pop-up.

Mass Resources Creation

Note: Up to 1,000 objects can be created in one operation. Resources and Fax Resources can be combined in a single .csv file.
 
To create Resources in bulk, follow the steps below:
  1. As an administrator, log into Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to Services > UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT at the top of the screen.
  3. Select the Resources & Utilities tab on the left navigation pane.
  4. Click Bulk create button to the right of the green Create button. The bulk creation page will open.
  5. A list of available plan names (a mandatory column in the template) is shown on the Bulk create page to assist with completing the template.

  6. On the Step 1. Download template section, click on the Download template button to get the .csv template file.
  7. Fill out the template with necessary data according to these guidelines and save it  as a .csv file to your computer: 
    • Type (required): The only accepted values are Resource and Fax resource, in this case use Resource.
    • Name (required): It can be anything but avoid special characters. Must be unique.
    • Location (required): Use the exact names of the locations. To check the location names, log into your Control Panel, then navigate to UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT > Locations.
    • Phone Number (required): Must be unique. The phone number must include country code 1 at the beginning of the number, no spaces, no dashes or parentheses (E.164 format). Example: 12342345678.
    • Extension (required): Any available extension. Must be unique.
    • Plan (required): The accepted values are Resource Line (pay per use) and Resource Line (500 min).
    • Voicemail PIN (optional): You can specify the voicemail PIN code for each object. This field can be left blank. 
  8. In the Step 2. Upload file section, click on the Choose file button to upload the completed .csv file.
  9. Click the Start creation button to initiate the process. A charge confirmation popup will appear, advising that all successfully created resources/faxes will increase monthly charges according to the selected plan. Click Yes, start creation to continue, or click Cancel to go back.

    Note: Bulk creation could take some time depending on the number of objects.
  10. The resource creation process will begin, taking you to the Status page. This page contains a table showing all mass operations on the account. To see information about a specific operation, click on the Process drop-down menu and select the operation to view details. Click Refresh list to update the status.

  11. If the process takes a long time, or if you need to check the status later, you can find the assignment history under Services > UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT > Resources & Utilities > Creation status.
  12. Once complete, the results will show either Completed or Done with errors.
  13. Review the detailed results for a row by clicking anywhere on that row. Click Download errors to correct mistakes and retry.

Edit Settings / Delete Resource

To access your Resource general settings:

  1. As an administrator, log into Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to Services > UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT at the top of the screen.
  3. Select the Resources & Utilities tab on the left navigation pane.
  4. Click on the Resource name.
  5. You can change the following settings on the General tab:
    • Update the Name
    • Change the Extension
    • Change or assign Phone Numbers
    • Update the payment Plan
    • Adjust the Outbound Caller ID
    • Adjust the Call Timeout
    • Change the Location
    • Change the Time zone
  6. Click the Save changes button to confirm.
You can set up a Call Forwarding on the corresponding tab.

To delete a Resource:

  1. As an administrator, log into Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to Services > UNIVERGE BLUE® CONNECT at the top of the screen.
  3. Select the Resources & Utilities tab on the left navigation pane.
  4. Check the Resource you wish to delete. You can select multiple Resources at the same time.
  5. Click the red Delete button.
