Managing devices connected to your UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE account is essential for data security. This guide helps administrators view and manage user devices, access device details, enforce backup policies, and perform remote wipes to remove data from lost or decommissioned devices, ensuring effective oversight and protection of sensitive information.

An administrator can view all user devices connected to the UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE account and containing UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE data.

View devices

To view user's devices:
  1. Log in to Control Panel  As an administrator
  2. Navigate to Services > UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE at the top of the screen.
  3. Select Devices on the left navigation pane.

You can review the details about users' devices:

  • Operating System: This column displays the operating system running on the device, such as Windows, macOS, iOS, etc.
  • User: This column shows the name or identifier of the user associated with the device.
  • Device type: This column indicates the type of device being used, such as a Corporate Desktop, Personal Desktop, or File Server.
  • Device name: This column provides the specific name of the device, helping to identify it among multiple devices.
  • UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE Version: This column shows the version of the UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE software installed on the device, ensuring it is up-to-date.
  • Last Access / Sync Time: This column displays the last time the device accessed or synchronized with UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE, which is useful for tracking activity.
  • Device mode: This column details the specific UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE desktop modes, assisting you in identifying how your UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE app is currently operating.
  • Backup Policy: This tab outlines the backup policy applied to the device, detailing which folders are backed up. It also allows you to reapply the default backup policy.
  • Wipe UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE data: This column allows you to perform a Remote Wipe.
You can search for a device using any of these details in the search box and filter devices by using the corresponding buttons located at the top of the page.

Device information can also be accessed under Users > click user's Display Name > UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE.

Admin can be notified if an end user logs into a new Desktop or Mobile device.  Email will be sent to the same address where all UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE email notifications are sent. Contact Support to enable this feature.

Remote Wipe

Technical administrators can perform a remote wipe. For example, if a user's laptop or mobile device is stolen or decommissioned, the technical administrator can wipe all UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE data from this particular device. Wiping the device also removes it from the list of Devices. The application will automatically close and log the user out, however, it won`t be deleted.

To wipe the device:

  1. Click Wipe UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE data
  2. Type the current day of the week in English to confirm
  3. Click Wipe UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE Data.

Note: all UNIVERGE BLUE® SHARE data that was set to sync will be wiped from the device.
